CHW Community Grants Awarded
In December 2010, seven organizations were awarded grants through the Community Grants Program, which is sponsored by California Hospital Medical Center (CHMC) and its parent company, Catholic Healthcare West (CHW). Through this program, CHMC partners with other nonprofit organizations working to improve the health and quality of life of local communities.
The recipients were:

- Enrichment Works for its Hope Street Youth Circus, an after-school program at the Hope Street Family Center that improves the physical fitness of youth center participants
- Immanuel Presbyterian Church for its bilingual yoga classes and workshops, which have demonstrated success in reducing adult stress and improving the overall health of participants
- Korean American Family Service Center for its domestic violence prevention progam, dedicated to alleviating the cycle of family violence in the Los Angeles Korean immigrant community
- Los Angeles Child Guidance Clinic for the First Steps program, which provides primary prevention and early intervention services for at risk families with children up to 5 years old in Central and South Los Angeles, where intense stressors can impact healthy childhood development
- Maternal and Child Health Access for its dental care project for low-income pregnant women, offering community and provider education on best practices for dental screening during pregnancy as well as assisting women with accessing Denti-Cal benefits
- Scott Newman Center for the Rowdy Ridge Camp, an intensive residential camping experience for Hope Street Family Center's children and parents, stressing family unity, communication and independent living skills
