2025 Hope Street Margolis Family Center Impact Report now available

A year of hope and impact

We're proud to announce the release of the 2025 Hope Street Margolis Family Center Impact Report! This report celebrates another remarkable year of educating children, strengthening families and transforming communities throughout downtow, central and south Los Angeles.

Made possible by the dedication of our staff, volunteers, community partners and generous donors, Hope Street's continuum of whole-child and whole-family programs suppored 5,000 children and family members across Los Angeles.

The 2025 Impact Report highlights the many ways Hope Street advanced health, education and opportunity. Here are a few key accomplishments:

  • Health and family support: Hope Street provided 9,647 in-person home visits to 469 young families, offering care coordination, parenting support and child development services.

  • Mental health and child welfare: Children and families received 24,043 hours of therapeutic mental health and child welfare services.

  • Early care and education: Hope Street provided 517,500 hours of early care and education to 230 infants, toddlers and preschoolers, while distributing more than 6,100 books and accompanying learning materials.

  • Youth development: More than 383 school-aged students received 25,678 hours of academic support, STEAM activities, recreation and wellness programming.

  • Training the next generation: Nursing students, family medicine residents and social work interns completed 2,502 clinical hours at Hope Street.

  • Supporting college students: Through the Myrra Lee College Support Fund, 33 students have received nearly $100,000 total to help cover books, housing, food, medical bills and other essential expenses. Thirty-one recipients are currently enrolled in college, and six alumni now work at California Hospital Medical Center.

More than just numbers

The report also shares the people and partnerships behind Hope Street’s impact.

Readers will meet Khyrsten Marquez, who first enrolled at Hope Street at age nine and recently graduated from the University of California, Riverside. Now pursuing a radiology program, she has returned to Hope Street as a teacher’s assistant, helping a new generation of students discover their creativity and potential.

The report also profiles longtime donor, volunteer and advisory board member Michelle Lainez, whose commitment to opening doors for young people has strengthened Hope Street for more than a decade. In addition, it spotlights Gather For Good, a community partner providing Hope Street families with thoughtfully curated groceries, fresh produce and chef-prepared meals.

Creating opportunities for young people

In 2025, Hope Street’s seven-week Summer of Science program introduced 120 children and teens to hands-on learning in science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics. From engineering experiments and ecosystem exploration to field trips and creative projects, participants strengthened their problem-solving, teamwork and critical-thinking skills while building confidence and friendships.

The year also brought an extraordinary show of philanthropic support. The 2025 Champions for Children Dinner raised a record-breaking $500,000 for Hope Street’s After-School and Summer of Science programs, benefiting more than 350 children and families.

Community support makes it possible

Hope Street’s impact is rooted in the belief that investing in children and families strengthens our entire community. Donations, volunteer service and community partnerships help provide the resources and opportunities families need to build healthy, stable and promising futures.

Looking ahead

The 2025 Impact Report demonstrates what is possible when a community comes together with compassion, generosity and a shared commitment to helping every child and family thrive.
