Keeping the heart of Los Angeles beating strong

In the heart of downtown Los Angeles, California Hospital delivers lifesaving cardiac care made possible through philanthropy.
Donor generosity plays a critical role in strengthening the hospital’s heart and cardiovascular program, which includes digital imaging, two fully equipped cardiac catheterization labs, a comprehensive cardiovascular operating room, and the latest cardiac interventional treatments. Patients benefit from an outstanding team of cardiac care specialists and a dedicated cardiac ICU staffed by specially trained nurses and therapists.
“Our entire team takes immense pride in providing cardiac care that is second to none,” says Gina Cordero, RT, RCIS, Manager of Cardiovascular Services and Interventional Radiology. “And we can’t thank our donors enough for funding the high-tech tools that we use every day to save and improve lives.” These tools range from portable ultrasounds to an intra aortic balloon pump used to treat cardiogenic shock, which occurs when your heart can’t pump enough blood to meet the needs of your body.
These resources equip physicians such as Dr. Emad Mogadam, an interventional and structural cardiologist whose desire to heal led him to transition from electrical engineering to medicine. His work treating complex conditions is supported by advanced technology funded through charitable giving, and his approach prioritizes direct communication to empower his patients: “We start from the very basic problems, explaining, educating. There is gratification of being able to treat people who need you the most.”
Your philanthropy fuels progress—from new cardiac technologies and expanded services to major initiatives like the Grand Tower and community programs such as the Hope Street Margolis Family Center. Together, we are strengthening the heart of Los Angeles and ensuring exceptional care for generations to come.
