California Hospital Medical Center receives Health Care Equity Certification from The Joint Commission
LOS ANGELES — We are thrilled to share that California Hospital Medical Center received The Joint Commission’s Health Care Equity Certification, recognizing CHMC as a leading hospital in health care equity through assessments in five categories: leadership, collaboration, data collection, provision of care, and performance improvement.
“This major milestone is not only a testament to our team’s unwavering commitment to health equity,” said Garrett South, Director, Patient Experience, CHMC, “it also reflects how deeply we live our Dignity Health mission and values for our diverse Southern California community.”
Introduced in 2023, the Health Care Equity Certification recognizes hospitals that excel in identifying and addressing health disparities. Hospitals that received the certification are identified as industry-leaders in health equity and closing gaps in access and quality of care among patient groups that frequently experience health disparities.
California Hospital Medical Center is the first CommonSpirit Health hospital nationally and one of the only hospitals in the Western U.S.to receive this certification from The Joint Commission.
