Gala exceeds goal, raises over $600,000 for California Hospital Medical Center’s new patient tower

LOS ANGELES (May 19, 2022) — Last Friday, May 13, California Hospital Medical Center Foundation welcomed friends, old and new, to the 31st Annual La Grande Affaire benefitting Dignity Health - California Hospital Medical Center (CHMC). This was the first time the event was held in person since 2019. By night’s end, the event exceeded its goal and raised over $600,000–all to support the completion of the new patient tower opening in 2023.

Held at the Diamond Ballroom at the J.W. Marriott L.A. LIVE, more than 500 guests enjoyed an exquisite five-course dinner with hand-selected wine pairings by executive chef Eric Branger, a fast-paced live auction presided over by auctioneer Grant Snyder and live music by No Vacancy. A video and remarks from caregivers before the fund-a-need highlighted the dedication of those who are delivering high-quality patient care every day.

“We are so grateful for the generosity of the many donors who contributed to the success of this year’s event,” says Alina Moran, MPA, FACHE, FAB, President of CHMC. “We have all endured so much over the past two years and are deeply honored by the continued support shown to California Hospital, our tireless staff, and most importantly our patients.”

With an opening slated for early 2023, the new patient tower will house expanded Emergency and Trauma Services including 51% more beds all in individual private rooms; modernized maternity services including completely redesigned labor and delivery, antepartum, postpartum and neonatal intensive care units; and will elevate our “hospital without walls” delivery of care to create new pipelines to our community programs that improve the health and wellness of our surrounding neighborhoods.

“Our campus is growing so that we can save more lives,” says Jeff Germain, Chair of the CHMC Foundation Board. “Our commitment to caring for every person who needs us is stronger than ever before. Thanks to our generous donor community, California Hospital will deliver the best care possible for anyone and everyone who needs it.”

CHMC Foundation would like to thank its generous partners and donors, including this year’s sponsors. The 32nd Annual La Grande Affaire will return on Saturday, March 4, 2023 to the JW Marriott Los Angeles L.A. LIVE.
